How can we thank you enough!
As you know, our seven-year-old son Aaron was having extreme difficulty with reading. After he was evaluated by a vision specialist and diagnosed with Binocular Instability and Oculomotor dysfunction, we understood why Aaron was having problems reading horizontally past the third digit.
When he came to your Center, Aaron was hitting about 60% of the sight words expected for the first grade. He also was not meeting the lowest range acceptable for reading comprehension for the first grade; while in math, he was excelling beyond second grade expectations, as long as the problems were no longer than three digits and not in story format.
Aaron attended your program with just three weeks of school left. The results are as follows:
His teacher wrote me a note, and I quote, "As Aaron becomes a more confident, practiced reader, he will have greater success in the area of fluency. Personally, I am in awe of the progress Aaron has made. At school, Aaron demonstrates a strong work ethic and perseverance. I think he's ready to take off in the area of reading! I am so excited for him!"
So, thank you! Thank you! Thank you! One and all from the bottom of our hearts. You have greatly impacted Aaron's ability to be successful in school, and we are so grateful. We thank you and praise Jesus for answering all our prayers. Much love to you all!
Julie and Doug Vander Linde, and Aaron, too!, IllinoisAs you know, Julian is preverbal instead of nonverbal. Since January, we have seen a big change in his ability to speak: before he only made a couple of sounds; he now makes nine single-letter sounds and about five double-letter sounds. His imitation skills have soared to levels that I had been told he never would reach. Also, Julian waves hi and bye appropriately. Before he didn't seem to know the difference- one gesture for two meanings was confusing- but not anymore. He can pedal a bike now and more importantly, he seems calmer and happier with himself.
Especially rewarding is the fact that for the first time in March, Julian recognized me as his mama! He also knows papa, Victor, Dante and Peter. Julian now looks to us for guidance and reassurance when he is working or someone else asks him a question.
His overall awareness is great and so is his sense of direction. He knows when we are headed home on any freeway. His willingness to use his PEC cards has increased and he responds to them with the utmost accuracy.
Also, his "self-stimming" behavior has decreased significantly. On Saturday, I was impressed that Dan was waiting for Julian to show up and Julian was present, but Dan didn't notice him, HURRAY!!
The Individualized Sensory Program has truly helped my son. Thank you!
